The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows football team after being held scoreless in first half rallied to get back within a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but was unable to punch in the equalizer in a 22-14 loss at Forest City on Friday.

Forest City led 15-0 at the half. The Cowboys outscored the Indians 14-7 in the second half behind a 28 yard pick six by Charlie Campbell late in the third quarter and a 20 yard touchdown rush by Campbell to begin the fourth quarter. The Indians offense tested the Cowboys defense through the air, passing for 205 yards and three touchdowns.

CGD Head Coach Caleb Vogel on the resilience of the team in the second half and overall commitment by players in the program.

Our fight, the way we faced adversity in the second half was absolutely outstanding,” says Vogel. “We couldn’t ask more from the team than that, because it’s easy to start getting down and not looking at the bright things and staying positive when things are not clicking. That didn’t happen last night in the second half, and that’s what I love to see. I’m just so thankful and so proud of these kids for the time that they put in throughout the week, the time that they put on the field and the bond that they have created.”

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (1-5, 0-3 2A-2) will host Okoboji for their senior night game on Friday.
