The Belmond-Klemme volleyball team won a tightly contested Top of Iowa conference and senior night match with timely rallies 3-1 over Nashua-Plainfield on Monday. The Broncos won by set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 22-25, and 25-10.
The Broncos recognized seven seniors including Shaylee Aguilera, Ella Negrete, Makayla O’Donnell-Heifner, Quinn Gabrielson, Adasyn Lamb, Sydney Verkant and Caylee Kuhlers before the match.
In a back and forth Set 1, the Broncos trailed late 22-20 and scored five of the final six points to claim the set. In Set 2, the Broncos trailed by as many as nine points to the Huskies, but rallied to tie the set at 24-24 and won the set in extra points 26-24. In Set 3, Nashua-Plainfield led a majority of the set till B-K tied things late at 21-21, the Huskies scored four of the final five points to extend the match to a fourth set. In Set 4, following a 4-4 tie, the Broncos went on a 10-0 run to go up 14-4 and put the set away from there to close out the win.
Belmond-Klemme (16-7, 5-2 TIC-West) will be at North Union on Thursday.
