Today 35 vehicles and over 65 people that make up the Jefferson Highway 2024 convoy stopped in Hampton at Band Shell Park.
The convoy left last week from northern Minnesota and is retracing the historic 1918 Jefferson Highway route with different military vehicles.
Lt. Dan McCluskey is the 2024 convoy commander, and tells RadioOnTheGo News the convoy is designed to encompass American history.
“Well that’s our whole goal in life is to really show the U.S. the contribution of military vehicles towards the Army. To support them, move men, material, and that’s our mission is history in motion. We’re out here driving these vehicles just like the Army did. We have vehicles that are show quality restored vehicles that have won awards at our annual conventions. Our members are out here driving them 2,500 miles on this convoy.”
Members of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association are taking part in the convoy.
