The #5 (2A) Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball team went 5-0 and won every set to take the championship at Saturday’s tournament at Hudson. AGWSR went 2-2.
The Falcons began the day by beating Belle Plaine 21-6, 21-9 in their most lopsided win of the tournament. They defeated #8 (1A) Don Bosco 22-20, 21-13 in the closest match of pool play. They finished pool play by defeating East Buchanan 21-18, 21-5.
In bracket play, the Falcons beat AGWSR 25-7, 25-12. They defeated the hosts 25-20, 25-20 in the tournament championship game.
AP (30-6) will return to action Tuesday at a tournament hosted by Oelwein on 99 The Wave.
The Cougars began the day with a 2-0 loss to Hudson, 21-15, 21-8. Later in pool play, AGWSR defeated West Central 2-0, 21-10, 21-5. They finished pool play by defeating Waterloo Christian 21-14, 21-17.
AGWSR (12-24) will return to action Tuesday by hosting a triangular with #5 (1A) BCLUW and Jesup.
