The Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball team went 3-0 and didn’t lose a set at Tuesday’s home Pink Out Quad, as aired on 104.9 KLMJ. North Butler went 1-2.

In the opener, Hampton-Dumont-CAL defeated North Butler 21-15, 21-17, but the Bearcats made the sets competitive. Aubryee Showalter had six kills to lead Hampton-Dumont-CAL, and North Butler was led by Amelia Thompson with four kills.

In the second match, the Bulldogs earned a 21-18, 21-18 win over Nashua-Plainfield. The Huskies rallied for several set points, but Hampton-Dumont-CAL had nine service aces to help their cause. Addison Aalbers had four kills, and Showalter had six aces.

In the finale, the Bulldogs earned their first win over Lake Mills in the Bound era series, 21-15, 21-13 in the most lopsided match of the night. Showalter had six kills. Head Coach Sarah Miller on the win over Lake Mills.

“Coming out in that set one, I feel like we were doing some really good things, kind of having some down though, making a couple mental errors, just communication things,” Miller says. “Our hitters were really executing though, super proud of them and our blocks were being big. Lake Mills is an amazing team, coached very, very well and they’re strong hitters. But as we started to go and we won that set one, I was like, okay, here we go. Come back set two, our serves were on and I feel like we got that big jump. Just super emotionally proud for my girls because we had not beat them and they deserve this. They’ve been working hard and things are coming together for them. So just so incredibly proud and excited for how they put it together and got that win tonight.”

Miller on the Pink Out Night.

“I appreciate the opportunity to do that with Franklin General Hospital. I appreciate Got You Covered getting our shirts ready so quickly and making some profit off of those from everyone that ordered. Nashua-Plainfield, their whole team had ordered them. Like, what a great event, great community support from all the teams that were here tonight. Our players made some baked goods out there. I didn’t get a chance to go out there and see them all. But I just really love our community and how we can come together to support. That’s a great cause for these patients that have to go through such a horrible thing.”

Hampton-Dumont-CAL (17-10, 3-3 NCC) will close the regular season Thursday at Algona.

In North Butler’s second match, they fell to Lake Mills 21-15, 21-10. The Bearcats bounced back for their only win of the night by defeating Nashua-Plainfield in the finale, 21-16, 21-14. North Butler (6-18) will close the regular season by joining Northwood-Kensett at a quad hosted by West Hancock Thursday.
