ISU Extension provides harvest update for local area

iowa-soybeans-being-harvested

ISU Extension Field Agronomist Angie Rieck-Hinz covers 8 counties in northern Iowa, including Hardin, Franklin, Wright, and Cerro Gordo.

She tells RadioOnTheGo News that in her coverage area, corn yields have been averaging between 190-220 bushels per acre, with some fields yielding 230 or more bushels an acre. The yield all comes down to whether you had too much rain this spring after the corn was planted, or if you were delayed in planting due to it being too wet.

Moisture content of the corn being harvested is running around 12-14 percent.

Rieck-Hinz says soybeans range from the mid 50’s to over 60 bushels an acre, but most are averaging in the mid 60’s.
