The latest U-S Drought Monitor Report shows that the coverage areas for both moderate drought and severe drought have expanded in Iowa.
Over 57 percent of Iowa is listed as being in a moderate drought this week, up over 8 percent from last week.
For the severe drought, almost 16 percent of the state is now listed under this category, up over 8 percent from last week.
In the local area, southeastern Floyd and eastern Butler County are listed as being in a severe drought, while the rest of the area is in a moderate drought.
