The #5 (2A) Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball team will close its regular season by hosting #8 (1A) Don Bosco in non-conference action Thursday.

The Falcons (32-6) will enter the match as winners of eight straight, including two 2-0 sweeps on Tuesday over Oelwein and #6 (2A) South Hardin. AP coach Candace Kleespies looks forward to hopefully finishing the regular season on a high note in front of the home fans.

“We saw Don Bosco this past weekend at Hudson,” Kleespies says. “They were in our pool play. Another good program, even though they’re coming out of 1A, just a really good program year in and year out. And so nice to kind of get another push here before heading into the postseason. Definitely got to come ready to play against them and watch a little more tape from this past weekend. And then we get ourselves ready to go. And we definitely want to finish our season out strong and especially at home because we’ve only had about five home matches this year. Definitely want to get in front of our home crowd and show them how hard these girls have worked and where they’ve gotten themselves here at the end of the season.”

Don Bosco (16-12) last competed at Saturday’s tournament at Hudson, where they went 2-2. It included a 2-0 AP win. It’ll be an opportunity for the Dons to bring momentum into Saturday’s Iowa Star Conference Tournament.

The first serve will be at 7:15 p.m.
