The Hampton-Dumont School Improvement Advisory Committee recently met and conducted an initial exploratory review of current practices for scheduling professional development and the school calendar. Current practices include early-out Wednesdays for staff collaboration, along with a few full-day professional development, or PD days.
Alternative options were also reviewed such as switching to only full-day PD days and a hybrid approach combining a few early-out Wednesdays with monthly full PD days.
Additionally, the committee looked at other schools using a four-day school week model.
The next steps by the Hampton-Dumont School Improvement Advisory Committee will include gathering additional feedback and further discussion to determine the best approach moving forward.
