The Iowa Falls-Alden football team was pushed out of the Class 2A playoff picture with a tough regular season finale loss 48-0 to #2(2A)PCM and a win by Jesup on Friday.

PCM rushed out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter. The Mustangs added three more endzone trips in the second quarter for a 48-0 lead at the half. There were no points scored in the second half. The Mustangs established a balanced attack with 237 passing yards and 203 rushing yards in the win. IFA was limited to 137 total yards of offense in the loss.

IFA Head Coach Eric Walkingstick on facing a top 2A program in the Mustangs.

We knew that they were going to be good. They were as advertised, a big, physical, strong team, probably the best team that we’ve seen this year for sure,” says Walkingstick. “They started off strong and we couldn’t do much to move the ball offensively. They capitalized early and often and we knew what we were getting into in that game, but kids came to play. Our kids were ready. We prepared this week well and got everything that we needed done. They were a very good team.”

Andrew Bartlett was 3-7 for 51 passing yards and added 32 rushing yards. Karsen Kalous had two receptions for 46 yards. Trevor Bailey added 8.5 tackles to lead the Cadets.

Iowa Falls-Alden (2-6, 2-3 2A-6) will host an optional week nine game against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows this Friday.
