The Iowa Department of Transportation is requesting public input on the proposed bridge replacement along U-S Highway 69 over the Iowa River in Belmond.
The proposed improvements include removing and replacing the existing bridge, reconstructing the approach pavement, and updating guardrail to the current standards.
During the reconstruction of the Highway 69 bridge, traffic will be phased with traffic signals to maintain one alternating travel lane in each direction. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2027 and end in the fall of the same year.
