Several Area Football Teams will Conclude Seasons with Optional Week 9 Games on Friday

Several area football teams in Classes A and 2A will conclude their seasons with optional Week 9 games on Friday, including Belmond-Klemme (A), North Butler (A), West Fork (A), Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (2A) and Iowa Falls-Alden (2A). 

Belmond-Klemme(2-6 in A) will host Eagle Grove(0-8 in A) in a Wright County battle.

This will be the first meeting between the programs since 2022, a game Eagle Grove won 60-8. B-K enters off a 18-7 loss at home to West Fork in Week 8. Eagle Grove lost to 40-28 to Pocahontas Area last week. Braeden Wright with 392 rushing yards and Braden Dougherty with 518 receiving yards, have combined for nine Broncos touchdowns.

North Butler(5-3 in A) will travel to New Hampton(1-7 in 2A) for first ever meeting.

North Butler won 26-7 in senior night game last week. New Hampton lost 52-21 to Waukon last week. Both teams feature driven run games as the Bearcats have 1,498 rushing yards and the Chickasaws have 1,271 rushing yards this season. Three different Bearcat runners have over 300 yards this season, led by Jax Thorne with 464 yards and three touchdowns. The Chickasaws top back is Beau Serie with 998 rushing and 12 touchdowns.

West Fork(2-6 in A) will defend it’s home field one final time this season as they host BCLUW(1-7 in A).

Both programs met in Week 9 last season, a game the Warhawks won 26-7. Both teams rely on ability to establish the run, the Warhawks have 1,327 yards, the Comets have 1,892 yards this season. Dax Suntken leads with 584 rushing yards and eight touchdowns for the Warhawks. Wyatt Gould leads the Comets with 815 rushing and eight touchdowns. Winning the turnover battle has been pivotal for both teams, as both teams have 15 takeaways on the year. 

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows(1-7 in 2A) will visit Iowa Falls-Alden(2-6 in 2A) in matchup of fellow North Central Conference teams.

This will be the first meeting between the programs since 2015, a game the Cadets won 35-20. CGD lost 42-0 at #3(2A)Spirit Lake last week. IFA lost 48-0 to #2(2A)PCM at home last week. Both teams have been challenged by injuries the last few weeks. JD Morrical leads the Cowboys with 391 passing yards and 299 rushing yards and five total touchdowns. Trevor Bailey has been force getting downhill with 66 tackles and 16.5 tackles for loss for the Cadets. 

Kickoff for every game will be at 7:00 p.m.
