Spartan Volleyball sizzles in regional semifinal win over Emmetsburg

The #10 (2A) Grundy Center volleyball team put together a dazzling performance in Monday’s 3-0 sweep of Emmetsburg at home in a Region 6 semifinal. The Spartans won 25-15, 25-15, 25-12.

The first set was all Grundy Center as they raced out to a 1-0 lead. After trailing early in set 2, the Spartans scored nine straight points to take a 14-7 lead and led by as many as 12 on their way to a commanding 2-0 lead. The Spartans finished the match with the most lopsided set of the night.

Ryanne Brubaker tied a career-high with 19 kills, and Kayden Muller had nine. The team had six aces.

Grundy Center (25-15) has advanced to Wednesday’s regional final against #6 (2A) South Hardin, which will be played at Union.
