Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation reaches a milestone

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation recently hit 200-thousand acres of land protected across the state.

Or to look at in another way, that land area is about the equivalent of over 151,500 football fields.

The land includes prairies, woodlands, rivers and wetlands.

However, foundation officials say there is more to do from a conservation standpoint.

Those 200-thousand protected acres are also the equivalent of point-56 percent of Iowa’s total land area of 36 million acres.
