A majority of the broadcast area is now in a severe drought.
The latest U-S Drought Monitor Report shows that through Tuesday morning, the coverage area for severe drought had expanded in Iowa from 19-point-32 percent last week to 50-point-8 percent this week.
The worst drought categories of extreme and exceptional have not shown up on the map yet.
Three months ago 100 percent of Iowa was drought free.
