BJ Hoffman is seeking another term as a Republican on the Hardin County Board of Supervisors this year.
Hoffman has served on the board of supervisors since 2017 and tells RadioOnTheGo News there is unfinished business he wants to attend to if he is reelected on Tuesday.
“We’ve got to continue to work on mental health service providers. And one of the things I’m most proud of in both my terms is the ability to fund a 70-bed crisis intervention facility near Cambridge through the CICS mental health region. The second thing we want to explore EMS is an essential service. Having been a EMT for over 20 years, I believe that EMS is something that every Hardin County resident needs to have access to. The third and final thing in Hardin County, drainage is a big deal. My opponent hasn’t mentioned the fact if elected, you’re sitting on the trustee board of over 200 drainage districts in Hardin County. So being fiscally responsible and a good steward of the landowner’s money is paramount to me.”
Lisa Lawler, a Democrat from New Providence, is challenging Hoffman for the seat on the Hardin County Board of Supervisors during the election.
Lawler works remotely as a cost controller for a multi-billion dollar project in Indiana and tells RadioOnTheGo News why she is running for the seat in the county.
“I am uniquely qualified to bring what I have learned as far as budgets, forecasting, resource management, cost controls to the position. I feel that I am a better qualified candidate than what is currently in there. What I’ve been hearing is not enough availability of child care. I’ve heard water and air quality is a really big concern from the constituents I’ve been talking to in the last few months. If they care about the environment, conservation, population decline, all of those things are things I want to tackle while I’m in office. I also want everyone to have their voices heard. The current board of supervisors are not very transparent and I plan on changing that when I’m in.”
