In the last 5 weeks, a couple of businesses in the broadcast area received several violations each as part of routine health inspections for food safety.  In Hampton, a routine inspection was carried out at the 7 Stars Family Restaurant on October 2nd, and there were 14 inspection violations.  They included not proper hand washing, dented cans were observed in the basement dry storage room, and they were not to be sold, a turkey roast was not cooked at the proper temperature, and a basement 3 compartment sink did not have paper towels available, nor signage in place to remind employees to wash hands.

In Belmond, a routine inspection was carried out at The Corner Lounge on October 18th, and there were 7 inspection violations.  The violations included foods prepared or portioned on-site were not date marked, and that the kitchen hand sink was blocked by a crockpot and had dirty-dishes inside.  In both cases, many of the violations were corrected during the time of the visit by the health inspectors.  Physical rechecks were done at 7 Stars on both October 24th and 26th, while a follow-up letter was sent to The Corner Lounge on October 28th.
