Belmond possibly looking at Clarion to help with law enforcement coverage

Belmond City Manager Cody Nicholas addressed the city council this week about the possibility of the Clarion Police Department helping in situations where the Belmond Police Department is unable to cover a shift due to limited staff.

Clarion would use their own vehicles, uniforms, and supplies.

Nicholas says he will check with the Clarion PD on a possible range for the cost.

It was discussed that to have the Wright County Sheriff’s Department cover a shift, it would cost $85 an hour.
