The Rowan City Council was informed this week that there have been several raccoons in town with distemper, which is a highly contagious viral disease in wild animals.
More trapping of the animals is expected.
In other business, the Rowan council passed an ordinance amendment concerning water rates.
A public hearing on the amendment was scheduled for December 2nd at 7pm.
