The Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s Senior All-Star Volleyball Games and Hall of Fame Induction will be held Saturday at Johnston Middle School.
Dike-New Hartford middle hitter Shannon Moorman will participate as a member of the “Hawkeyes” team, which will play against the “Cyclones” team at 5:30 p.m. 33 senior volleyball players statewide have been selected to participate, and have been split into four teams.
Former Clarion-Goldfield coach Shelly TerHark will be inducted into the IGCA Volleyball Hall of Fame. She coached for 33 seasons at Clarion-Goldfield and Algona, where she compiled a record of 874-319. She took five Algona teams to the state tournament, including a runner-up finish in 2005 and a semifinal appearance in 2007.
TerHark is now retired after 34 years as a high school business teacher and athletic director. She continues to give back to the game of volleyball by working as an official.
The hall of fame inductions will be held between Saturday’s matches.
