When the Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys basketball team begins practices next week, it’ll begin to integrate a new-look team.
After losing nearly the entire roster to graduation last year, the Bulldogs are expected to have two varsity returners that appeared in games last year. Junior forward/center Brady Harr is the lone returning starter, and Head Coach Brian Niesen says the rest of the lineup remains to be seen.
“That’s a great starting piece for us,” Niesen says. “You’ve got a 6’7″ kid there who can guard the rim. He averaged eight and eight, had a game-winning shot one night in a conference road game. After that, it’s really truly a lot of question marks. I really don’t know who the starting five will be. I don’t know who the sixth man or the seventh man is. There’s a lot of places we can go. So it’s really hard to say right now. We’ll have great competition for playing time next week.”
Last year, Harr was the team’s third-leading scorer with 7.8 points on 47 percent shooting, and was second on the team with 8.1 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs will open Tuesday, December 3 at Nevada.
