The Aplington-Parkersburg Girls Basketball program is adding three new assistant coaches for the upcoming season.
Head Coach Brady Driscol says two former players, Ellie Etjen and Kaitlin Cuvelier, will join the staff as coaches with fairly recent playing experience.
“Ellie Etjen actually coached the middle schoolers in volleyball this season,” Driscol says. “So she’s already gotten her coaching debut underway, but now it’ll be in basketball which I think she’s really excited for. They’re both really excited for it.”
Both Etjen and Cuvelier were members of the Class of 2022.
Robert Driscol has joined the staff after a long tenure as the head coach at Union. Brady Driscol is excited to coach alongside his father.
“My dad resigned at Union after probably 28, 29 years. And I thought that was an obvious choice. And we basically already run a lot of the same stuff, so it’s not going to be too difficult for him to catch on, I hope not. So I asked him, and he’s going to help out too when he can. So that’ll be a unique and fun experience for us.”
The three new assistants will replace Shawn Krusey and Ellie Thomas, who have stepped away from the positions.
The Falcons will begin the season by hosting Hampton-Dumont-CAL on Monday, November 25.
