A 52-year-old Mason City man was sentenced Monday in Cerro Gordo County District Court for up to 50 years in prison after he entered a guilty plea earlier this month to a charge of 2nd degree murder.

The state originally charged Frederick Joseph Olson with 1st degree murder after the body of 63-year-old Leroy White of Mason City was found in a home in the 19-hundred block of South Grover Avenue in Mason City on December 17th, 2023.

Olson must serve at least 35 years of his sentence before he would become eligible for parole.
