The AGWSR girls basketball team jumped ahead early and held off a comeback for a 64-56 win at BCLUW Tuesday.
The Cougars were in sync offensively, pulling away for an 18-9 lead after the first quarter. However, the Comets remained within striking distance, and pulled to within 47-39 at the end of the third. Needing possessions late, BCLUW resorted to fouling, and Trevyn Smith hit four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Josie Kuper led with 18 points and Smith had 17.
AGWSR (2-0) will return to action Tuesday, December 3 by hosting Wapsie Valley in the home opener.
