The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Friday Uncorked wine tasting event Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for your souvenir glass are on sale at Center 1 for $30. This ticket will be turned in Friday for your souvenir glass and a bag courtesy of OnTheGoMedia, containing a gift from First Bank Hampton. It also contains a map of participating locations and a ballot for your pick for the People’s Choice wine.

Sue Followwill is one of the chamber ambassadors and tells RadioOnTheGo News about this year’s event.

“Well, this is the 15th year for Friday on Cork in Hampton, and they always do it the day after Thanksgiving, which is Black Friday. It kind of kicks off the sleep in shop late day for the businesses. You have to have the ticket and you pick that up at center one. The office will be opening at one o’clock on Friday. So you stop in there. When you come in, you’ll get a wristband.”

You must be 21 to participate and must provide an ID when you pick up your wristband. Followwill says each business will have a ballot for the People’s Choice wine.

“So when you sample these different wines, there will be a medallion on that bottle of wine. You can drop your ballot off at any one of the participating businesses, or you can take it down to Center One on Monday, then they will all be tallied. The winner will be announced at the quarterly coffee, which is gonna be December 6th at the Franklin County Convention Center. And that is open to the public so people can come out and see who won the people’s choice. And new this year, we’re doing appetizers also so people will have an opportunity to vote for the best appetizer at all the different businesses.”

For more information, you can call Center 1 at 641-456-5668.
