The West Fork girls basketball team led 35-10 at the half and never looked back in a 59-31 season opening win over North Iowa in a Top of Iowa crossover game on Tuesday.
The Warhawks after a low scoring first quarter pulled ahead to a 13-2 lead. The Warhawks on-ball pressure got to the Bison and the offense found its rhythm in the second quarter, as they went on a 22-5 scoring run to take a 35-10 lead into the half. West Fork limited the Bison to 21 points and continued to add to their lead in the second half to close out the opening night win.
Senior Leah Weaver surpassed 1,000 career points with 18 points in the win. Senior Nehir Kanat in first career game at West Fork scored 16 points. Junior Brylee Dickman added eight points.
West Fork (1-0) will host #5(3A) Forest City on Monday, December 2.
