AP/GC takes title at Belle Plaine Girls Invitational

The AP/GC girls wrestling team earned six podium finishes on their way to the tournament title at Saturday’s Belle Plaine Invitational.

At 120, Grace Storjohann was the champion in a round-robin weight class, earning three wins by fall. She wrestled for 1:09 total, with falls of 0:33, 0:20 and 0:16.

In a traditional bracket, Zoey Uhlenhopp was the champion at 155. She earned a first round bye, and wrestled for 0:49 total with a 0:15 fall in the semifinal and a 0:34 fall in the first place match.

Kylee Babcock placed second at 125 in a round-robin class. She won her first two matches in falls of 2:52 and 1:43, but lost a 0:49 fall in round 3.

At 145, Caylee Harken placed second. She earned falls of 2:25 and 1:24 in the quarterfinals and semifinals before losing a 2:57 fall in the first place match.

Kira Cox placed second at 170. She won by fall in 0:27 and 1:19 in the quarterfinal and semifinal, and lost a 0:39 fall in the final.

Ellie Reints placed third at 135. She lost a 10-7 decision in the quarterfinal, but battled back with falls of 1:15, 1:13 and 0:58 to finish the day strong.

AP/GC will return to action Saturday, December 7 at a tournament at Saint Ansgar.
