The Friends of Beeds Lake group reorganized earlier this year with a goal of helping to make improvements to the state park near Hampton.

Robin Kofoot is President of the Friends of Beeds Lake.

“Friends of Beeds Lake is an organization that wants to preserve the water quality of the lake. We also want to look at recreational resources that we can provide out at the lake and just make the lake more enhancing anybody who comes to visit. So ways that we can do that are promoting recreation through camping, through hiking, fishing, boating, lots of ways to have fun at the lake and also make the water quality the best that it can be.”

Kofoot says they are hosting an important meeting today in Hampton beginning at 6:30pm at Center 1.

“Friends of Beeds Lake is going to meeting with a guy from the DNR. This is a water quality meeting. We want him to come and speak about what we can do for water quality and we also want local people to turn out for that. We want the state to know that we as locals support the lake because the lake is really for us. While the state manages the lake, we also need to have local support.”

In a Facebook post, the Friends of Beeds Lake has secured $97,500 in grant funding and $8,225 in private donations.
