The West Fork boys wrestling team will host a Top of Iowa Conference quad to begin 2024-25 schedule on Tuesday. Conference opponents in attendance include Rockford, Saint Ansgar and #20 (1A) West Hancock. This will be the head coaching debut of West Fork Coach Keaton Wilson.

Wilson on in match strategy.

“I want them to be good on their feet. I want them to be good from the neutral position. I want them to get takedowns. I want them to have the mentality of, you shoot, you score, I shoot, I score. That’s kind of how I want them to be,” says Wilson. “I don’t want them to get complacent in the bottom position either. I want them to try and get out as fast as possible. We’ll be a very well-conditioned team. I’m a firm believer in conditioning.”

West Fork doubled its roster size from four last season to eight wrestlers this season. The Warhawks return three wrestlers from last year’s team, including Brooks Jones at 138, Jasper Jones at 150 and Andrew Baker at 165. New to the roster entering this season includes Gage Arndt at 120, Preston Starr at 144, Max Dickman at 175, Jensen Robbins at 215 and Jarren Hitzhusen at 285.

West Hancock returns Teague Smith at 138 who went 51-3, Creighton Kelly at 175 who went 34-5, Ethan Gayken at 132 who went 32-10 last season.

Saint Ansgar’s returns Trace Huisman at 120 who went 31-13 and Andrew Hall at 132 who went 32-15 last season.

Action begins at 6:00 p.m. in Sheffield.
