The Iowa Falls-Alden girls basketball team is off to a 1-1 start, and is in a steady ramp-up to conference play. Four of the first five games are against non-conference opponents; the season began with a 56-52 win at South Hardin, followed by a 57-48 home loss to West Marshall before Thanksgiving.

“We open up the year with some really good teams,” Head Coach Michael Collison says. “I think our first four or five games are all against really good teams. And then we start really rolling into conference play. And every night in the North Central Conference is a battle when every team is good. So the kids know that we play a tough schedule and every opportunity you get to play is an opportunity to get better.”

The Cadets will play back-to-back games to end this week. They’ll travel to South Hamilton Thursday and will begin North Central Conference play at Algona Friday. They’ll host Nevada in the final non-conference game of December on Monday, December 9.
