The North Butler-Clarksville boys wrestling team will open the 2024-2025 season with a Top of Iowa Conference quad at Northwood-Kensett on Thursday. Teams in attendance include the Vikings, #16(1A)Osage and North Union.
North Butler-Clarksville Head Coach Adam Holm.
“Excited for it and I’m nervous for it at the same time. I’d like to see what the kids can do when they get on the mat,” says Holm. “The Top of Iowa Conference is one of the best in the state. We just want them to be well prepared and know that the tools that we’re giving them right now will transfer over to when it’s live wrestling. In the wrestling room, it’s totally different. We just want to give them the confidence that they were taught what to do and are able to do it. To go out and finish shots or a combination of take downs to falls.”
North Butler-Clarksville returns Carl Shew, who went 37-8 at 106 last season and will move up to 113 this season. Jaxon Miller who went 30-22 at 138, and Peyton Knoll, who went 25-21 at 144 last season, will wrestle at 150 this season. Behind returning leaders, the Bearcats will have a group of nine underclassman taking the mat for valuable varsity reps.
Osage returns Blake Fox who went 44-1 at 138. Ty Voigt also returns for the Green Devils and went 30-11 at 157 last season.
North Union returns Brennan Bollinger who went 31-9 at 215 last season. Jackson Hutchinson also returns for the Warriors and went 24-18 at 132 last season.
Northwood-Kensett returns Alex Tiedeman who went 33-11 at 150 last season. Trent Tiedeman also returns for the Vikings and went 31-8 at 175 last season.
