A public hearing was held by the Belmond City Council this week concerning funding for a new swimming pool.
A committee has been working to help raise the funds, which now stands at 2-million dollars.
Many of those who spoke during the public hearing stated Belmond needs a swimming pool to help the local economy, but a few petitions have come forward stating opposition to the project.
The Belmond City Council then set December 16th as the date to consider the issuance of not to exceed 3-million dollars in General Obligation Capital Loan Notes for the pool project.
