The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the USDA have detected a case of avian influenza in a flock of commercial layer chickens in Sioux County.
This is Iowa’s 4th detection of the bird flu within poultry in 2024, and the state’s first detection since June.
The state ag department is strongly encouraging Iowa poultry producers, dairy farmers, and other livestock producers to bolster their biosecurity practices and protocols to protect their flocks and herds.
Officials say it remains safe to enjoy eggs and poultry products.
