State Treasurer Roby Smith says that the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt had a record-setting annual reporting season.
With over 68-million dollars of unclaimed property reported to the treasure hunt, this marks a significant increase from the previous record of 42-point-8-million dollars, set in the last reporting season.
The number of individuals and businesses having unclaimed money also broke a new record, with over 486-thousand names sent to the state treasurer’s office this reporting season, compared to 268-thousand last year.
