The Hampton-Dumont-CAL basketball teams will play their first North Central Conference doubleheader of the season when they host Webster City Friday.
The boys (1-1) are coming off Tuesday’s 52-39 win at AGWSR, where they took a leap offensively after being held to 29 points in a season-opening loss to Nevada. Head Coach Brian Niesen says multiple players stepped up.
Webster City (1-1) picked up their first win of the season in Tuesday’s 49-46 triumph over South Central Calhoun, where they shot a crisp 48 percent and overcame 25 turnovers.
The #15 (3A) Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls (4-0) have cracked the IGHSAU rankings for the first time since the 2021-2022 season. They held off a last-second shot attempt in Tuesday’s 49-48 win over AGWSR, where Brooklyn Valley shot 50 percent to score 18 points.
Webster City (0-5) has stumbled out of the gate, with the closest loss being by nine points. Olivia Gallentine leads with 10.2 points per game.
The doubleheader will begin at 6:15 p.m.
