Hampton-Dumont-CAL second, Iowa Falls-Alden ninth at Humboldt girls wrestling tournament

Local girls wrestling teams competed at Monday’s Michelle Jensen Memorial Tournament at Humboldt. Hampton-Dumont-CAL tied for second place with 135 points, and Iowa Falls-Alden placed ninth with 54 points.

The Bulldogs had five podium finishers. Maren Subbert placed first at 190. After a first round bye, she earned two pins to win the weight class. Elsie Kuper placed second at 170. She won by fall in the quarterfinal and semifinal, and lost by fall in the final. Megan Severs placed second at 140, earning pins in the quarterfinal and semifinal, and losing a 7-4 decision in the final. Juliette Koch placed second at 135, winning by fall in the quarterfinal and semifinal before losing a 9-3 decision in the final. Marlee Maas placed second at 120. She earned a first round bye, won a pin in the semifinal, and lost by fall in the final.

The Cadets had three podium finishers. Natasha Martinez-Garcia placed second at 145, earning pins in the quarterfinal and semifinal before being pinned in the final. Brooklyn Gehling placed third at 130, going 1-1 on the front side and going 2-0 in the consolation bracket. Kynnedy Gunderson placed third at 170, going 2-0 with two pins in the consolation bracket.
