The Grundy Center girls basketball team left no doubt in Tuesday’s 61-40 home win over New Hampton in non-conference action.
The Spartans scored the game’s first 10 points, and held the Chickasaws off the board until halfway through the first quarter. They led 21-3 after the first quarter, and extended the lead to more than 20 throughout the second for a 39-14 halftime lead. Another dominant quarter extended the lead to 59-20 after three, putting the running clock rule in effect. New Hampton outscored the Spartans 18-2 in the fourth quarter to end the running clock rule, but the result was never in question.
Grundy Center (4-2) will return to action Friday at East Marshall as part of an NICL-West doubleheader.
