The Meservey City Council this week discussed EMS coverage for the community.
The Mason City Fire Department Ambulance won’t take patients to Belmond because it is out of their territory, and a lot of residents in Meservey see doctors in Belmond and Clarion, and would prefer to be transferred there rather than to Mason City.
Meservey Mayor Richard Miller says he has spoken with the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond and they are agreeable to coming to Meservey, as it is only 2 miles outside of their district.
Miller also spoke with the Mason City Fire Department, and says they would be agreeable to what is being looked at.
No action was taken by the Meservey City Council, but they would like a representative from the Belmond Ambulance to come to the next council meeting, set for January 13th.
