C-G-D Head Coach Dillon Anderson’s takeaways from ranked dual and entering Battle of Waterloo.

“Algona is one of the best teams in the conference, not only in the conference but in the state. Definitely not a bad loss as far as losing to a really good team. They match up incredibly well with us. It’s just kind of a hard dual. There are a lot of things we can improve on to definitely close that gap,” says Anderson. “Some of the top 1A teams, you get some of the top 2A teams, some of the top 3A teams, and you basically put them all in a bracket and let them battle it out. It’s a two-day tournament that you’re gonna face a lot of really, really good teams and a lot of really good wrestlers. It’s just an excellent opportunity to get some high-level matches.”

Four Cowboys went 2-0, including Linden Phetxouphone at 120, Adrian Phetxouphone at 138, Charlie Campbell at 190 and JT Kelso at 285.

The Cadets were led by Zane Gillespie at 106 and Kyler Patton at 150 who both went 1-1.

C-G-D (3-1) will compete at Battle of Waterloo on Friday and Saturday. Iowa Falls-Alden (7-2) will host the 17th Annual Jones Brothers Invite on Saturday.
