The Dike-New Hartford boys wrestling team earned a 53-30 home win over AGWSR Thursday. It was scheduled to be a triangular with #11 (2A) North Fayette Valley, but the Tigerhawks didn’t attend due to their school dismissing early because of weather conditions.
The Wolverines got four pins, including by James Wingert at 126, Karson VanHeiden at 132, Logan Hayes at 165 and Bryce Bass at 175. The Cougars had four pins, including by Kealain Urban at 106, Brady Abbas at 120, Jariyah Bowles at 138 and Clayton VanLoh at 190.
The difference was the open weights. Dike-New Hartford had an 18-point swing in their favor due to having one open class to AGWSR’s four. The Wolverines also had a technical fall by Tate DeBuhr at 285 to complete the scoring.
Dike-New Hartford (6-0) will return to action by hosting a dual tournament Saturday. AGWSR (1-9) will be at Saturday’s Al DeLeon Invitational at West Hancock.
