The Hampton-Dumont-CAL boys wrestling team closed its December portion of the season with a fifth place finish at Saturday’s Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational at Roland-Story. The Bulldogs scored 153.5 team points.
At 132, Charlie Showalter was the champion. He earned pins in the first round and quarterfinal, followed by technical falls in both the semifinal and final.
Taylor Mahler won the title at 157. After a first round bye, he won a 0:36 pin in the quarterfinal. He won a 13-5 major decision in the semifinal and a 5-4 decision in the final.
Colin Bird placed second at 165. He won a tech fall in the first round, followed by decisions in the quarterfinal and semifinal. He lost a 2:56 fall in the final.
The Bulldogs will return to action Thursday, January 9 at Iowa Falls-Alden.
