The #17 (2A) Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys wrestling team went 2-4 at the Battle of Waterloo dual tournament on Friday and Saturday.
On the Friday, the Cowboys started the tournament 2-0 with wins over #12 (1A) Wapsie Valley (56-17) and an upset of #3 (2A) West Delaware (32-29). The Cowboys concluded the day with a tough dual loss to #1 (3A) Southeast Polk (70-4). The Cowboys finished runner-up in Bracket D.
On Saturday, the Cowboys moved into pool play and went 0-3 with three more ranked duals against Class 3A programs, falling to #2 (3A) Bettendorf (49-29), #6 (3A) Indianola (45-28) and #9 (3A) Ankeny (54-25).
The Cowboys were led by Charlie Campbell who went 6-0 between 190 and 215 with three falls, one technical fall, one major decision and one win by decision. Caleb Seaba went 5-1 between 157 and 165 with two technical falls, a major decision, a decision and a win by forfeit. JT Kelso went 5-1 at 285 with two falls, a decision and two wins by forfeit.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (5-5) will return to mat with a quad at Humboldt on Thursday, January 9.
