Iowa’s two regular gun seasons for deer are over. Deer hunting will now shift in Iowa to a more solitary endeavor with the opening of the late muzzleloader season and the reopening of archery season.
The late muzzleloader and late split archery season runs from now through January 10th.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the state has been tracking closely to last year when 104-thousand deer were harvested across the state.
To date, hunters have reported at least 87-thousand deer.
