Today Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart was elected to a second term as the chair by the Democratic State Central Committee.
The 68-year-old Hart is a native of Charles City, and served in the Iowa Senate from 2013-2019.
In 2018, she ran for lieutenant governor with her running mate Fred Hubbell, but they lost the election.
Then in 2020, she ran for at that time Iowa’s 2nd District Congressional seat against incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and lost by 6 votes.
