The Iowa Falls-Alden basketball teams will play their second straight North Central Conference away games when they travel to Humboldt for a doubleheader Friday, which will air on 104.9 KLMJ.
The Cadet girls (5-5, 2-2 NCC) are on a season-long three-game losing streak, including games this week where they were held to 30 and 28 points against #12 (3A) Hampton-Dumont-CAL and #9 (3A) Roland-Story. Head Coach Michael Collison says Humboldt will offer another stiff test.
“Humboldt is one of those teams that, coming back from last year, is returning most of their team, returning one of the best players in the conference, Morgan Mann,” Collison says. “And I think that’s a game that last year our girls went up to their place and got the win. And so I know they’re going to be motivated and excited to play us. We’ve got to be equally as motivated and as excited to play them. NCC road games are really tough to win in this league. And you’re not going to win unless your defense travels and you do the little things.”
Humboldt (5-4, 2-2 NCC) has had an up-and-down season, but enters on a three-game win streak, including a 64-41 conference win over St. Edmond Tuesday. Morgan Mann leads with 16.8 points per game.
The Cadet boys (6-3, 2-1 NCC) will look to bounce back from Tuesday’s 67-65 overtime loss at Hampton-Dumont-CAL, where some late heroics weren’t enough to come out on top.
Humboldt (3-1 NCC) will go for their second straight conference win after a dazzling offensive performance in Tuesday’s 95-66 win over St. Edmond. Elliot Carlson leads with 19.7 points per game.
Coverage will start at 6:00 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:15.
