A few agencies responded to the report of a semi truck fire along Highway 3 in Hampton Friday.

Franklin County Emergency Management Coordinator Joel McWilliams tells RadioOnTheGo News a sheriff’s deputy was traveling east along Highway 3 and noticed a semi truck, heading west, with “smoke coming from the back.” This would be east of the intersection of Highways 3 and 65.

McWilliams says the fire was put out by “Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies with the use of an extinguisher.” Some damage to an axle was reported but the cab and trailer did not receive any damage. No injuries were reported.

Franklin County Emergency Management, Hampton Fire Department and FGH Ambulance were among those assisting at the scene.
