The Belmond-Klemme girls and boys basketball teams will face a pair of conference leading Bishop Garrigan teams in a Top of Iowa Conference West doubleheader on Tuesday. Bishop Garrigan won the first meetings of the year on December 3.

Head Coach James Severson on areas the team works on in practice to put best foot forward in game action.
“We spent a lot of time on the defensive side of the ball, trying to kind of shore that up a little bit. Get some more rebounds, make sure that we’re in good position for backside rebounds,” says Severson. “We also spent a lot of time in the press and offensively just getting a ton of shots up. Trying to make sure that we are putting ourselves with the best foot forward.”
The #4 (1A) Bishop Garrigan girls (9-2, 6-1 TIC-West) has won two straight including a 72-23 win over West Hancock on Friday. The Golden Bears bring consistent pressure 17 steals per game. Gracelyn Eastman paces the Golden Bears with 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

Brody Heifner and Kysen Lamb are the Broncos double figure scorers with 16.2 and 14.7 points per game respectively.
Head Coach Justin Meyer on second meeting with the Golden Bears.
“I think we’ve really improved as a team since then. I’m sure that they have too. I’m just really excited. As a litmus test for our guys, still being juniors and sophomores, a litmus test against some of those upper echelon teams in the conference,” says Meyer. Hoping for some really competitive basketball games. At the end of the day, let the chips fall where they may. It’s all gonna be a learning process for our team moving forward.”
The Bishop Garrigan boys (9-2, 6-1 TIC-West) have won two straight including a 64-28 win over West Hancock on Friday. The Golden Bears are balanced offensively with 16 assists per game. Michael Joyce leads with 16.8 points per game.
