The Hampton-Dumont Scholarship Fund has been working to make it easier for students, parents, and stakeholders to navigate the scholarship process, as a new website is nearing completion.

Charlane Pralle-Janssen is the secretary of the H-D Scholarship Fund Board, and is also a retired teacher.  She tells RadioOnTheGo News the advice she would give to students looking at their future career paths.

“I think it’s very important for a senior in high school to be ready to answer the question, where am I going and what do I want to do? Now, you may not stick to that program, but to start, it’s very important. If don’t think your four year college material, look at your local community college, look at a trades program. What do you like to do as a hobby? If you like to work with things or people is what I always told students. Because if you like to work with people, look at people’s jobs. If you’re a person that says, I don’t want people interrupting me during the day, look at technology, auto mechanics, being your own entrepreneur and those types of things, and there’s programs for all of those.”

Pralle-Janssen provides more on the website.

“HDSF, Hampton spelled out .org, and that stands for Hampton Dumont Scholarship Fund, Hampton.org. The first of February, we should have community letter coming out and they’ll be able to go to the website and donate on the website by using a charge card. They can also, in that community letter, send a check in to us. They can contact us through the website, any of the officers and say, I need to meet with somebody. I would like to know more information how I leave a scholarship or start a scholarship. Businesses can do that or individuals. And then there’s gonna be some dates and reminders for parents on there, like the awards night, deadlines for students coming up and for seniors.”

Again, the website is hdsfhampton.org.
