Iowa State Senator Annette Sweeney of Alden will be on 6 standing committees during this year’s legislative session.  That will include remaining as chairperson of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee.

Sweeney will also serve on the Health and Human Services Committee.

“We need to focus on rural healthcare. And the University of Iowa is very open to talking about that. And then I was also at a conference this last week about what they’ve done in other states to hopefully implement that. And then I’m on commerce, first time ever on commerce. I wanted to venture out and look at that because agriculture is also commerce. So we don’t want our group or our caucus to forget about that. And then technology. Technology is one that we forget about all the things that our farmers are now doing that encompass technology. So I want to make sure that we have an agriculture voice at the technology table.”

Sweeney covers Iowa Senate District #27, which includes all of Hardin and Grundy Counties in the broadcast area.
