The city council in Grundy Center held a work session Wednesday night and discussed wage surveys and fiscal year 2026 wage increases for the next fiscal year budget.
Discussion led to the city will not be able to financially afford to do both a percentage increase and add longevity to the hourly wages, due to the majority of city employees having been employed with the city for many years.
The Grundy Center City Council asked the city clerk to calculate the fiscal year 2026 budget with wage increases of 3-5 percent across all departments.
The Grundy Center council will continue to discuss this topic in the future.
